My 53 has really cool spark plug wires that have "Ford" molded into a flat face on the plastic insulation at the plug end. They are very old and cracked. I wonder if they are old NOS wires.
Does anyone make repops of these?
They may be original Ford parts, but they are not "NOS". The abbreviation NOS stands for New, Old Stock, which means brand new OEM parts made years ago that have been stocked on a shelf somewhere and never used. Typically, these are parts that have been obsolete for years and may be difficult to find. People searching for NOS parts for their projects will usually be willing to pay a premium price for them, too, because of their scarcity.
Meadow,NOS =New Old Stock,if yours are in use they are old, used.Don't know if anyone reproduces them.
Edit:You beat me,Wayne.
Plenty of the reproduced parts are of not so great quality, compared to original equipment. Many don't even include a country of origin, they're training us to give up and accept inferior quality products.Chinese steel is of lower tensile strength,so I'm told.NumberDummy is very generous with his time and energy in posting part numbers,as well as locating available remaining NOS parts.
Thanks guys. What I meant by "old NOS" was a guess that a previous owner found them as NOS, put them on and now they are old. I didn't imagine they could have been on this motor 57 years. Could they possibly be original? The motor has 56K original miles so I guess it would be possible.
Anyway, where would a concours guy get his wires? I'm going to give mine a rebirth as a driver but like the nostalgia of keeping her as original as possible.
Sorry, can't see the picture. Are you talking about wires with the FoMoCo script or something different?
If it's the FoMoCo script wires, Concours Parts & Accessories carries them, but at a Concours price....$72 a set! www.concoursparts.com
