Went today to have a noise check on my 00 expedition and my check engine light was on so had them just check out what the code was. It a 1405 code i think egr code. Instead of paying the steralership to fix it, is this something easy I can fix? or better off taking it back to get fixed?
The EGR valve is located on the back side of the intake manifold on my Navigator and the pipe that feeds it is in the driver side exhaust manifold. there is a smaller pipe that goes to the actual sensor that would be mounted on the engine or firewall. The Navigator and Expedition systems are similar but the components may be located in different locations. Check the large stainless pipe for cracks or breaks and the smaller for a burnt or broken hose(s), the Nav has 2 small hoses and I don't know what the Expy has.
I think I found it the hose says gas/fuel. I checked it and theres no cracks, but i ran my finger across it and all the writing on it was flaking off of it. not sure where else to look. any suggestions?
