I need the screws (one per each side) that hold the outside door handles for a 48 F1. Can anyone tell me what size, thread, and place to purchase these. I have already tried HD and Fastenal. Thanks.
Per the "1944-1952 Ford Body Parts Catalog" Page 146 under group 22400-1, the Machine Screw is a:
1/4" - 28 x 1/2" Round Head Screw
IOW its a fine thread, 1/4 inch, round head, machine screw, 1/2 " long.
It takes a 1/4" "external tooth" lockwasher on it. (the kind that look like little circular saw blades)
Our Home Depot and Dixieline don't carry the fine thread screws any more - they used to be in the "specialty hardware" drawers. I know that ACE/Tru-Value carries them. Do not buy hardened screws.
