i am looking at a 2006 E450 duelly w/ the v10 engine . it has a flat bed conversion it. i want to tow a 14.5k 5er ? finding specs on this can be difficult? thanx for any help.
Just guessing here, but you may not find published specs because E series aren't set up to handle 5ers. Still guessing...if the frame, suspension, wheels, tires, etc. are the same as the F450, it should handle that weight 5er with no problem.
BTW, welcome to the forum, it's THE PLACE to go for good info and helpful members.
thank you, it seems to be a cutaway e450 with a extra room behind seats and windows. so i looked on trailer life tow guide under extended cab or supercab truck chassis cab and came up with 18,000# 5er towing i beleive the gearing 4:56 . just wondering now if this is a good comparsion? truck chassis cab= van chassis. sounds like it easly tow my trailer. i have read on e-net that the van v-10 are a lil'less HP/TQ than the trucks becuase of exhaust and intake restrictions, dont know how true it is ? thanks again.
I don't think you will have power, braking, or weight issues. But how long is this flat bed conversion? You need your pin to be about 50" behind the cab, and your pin also needs to be at least directly over your axle and preferrably 2-4" in front of your axle. If your pin is too far forward, your trailer will hit the cab in a sharp corner, and if your pin is too far rearward your handling will suffer. A slider hitch might work, but a gooseneck might also work best with a flat bed. Since we don't know what you are working with, I recommend you work with an RV dealership service department to get this set up safely.
i will need to find out on the tranny. and right now it has a nice diamond plate flat bed w/ a gooseneck hitch so i believe its a reg. size bed. 5er should work? will heft to take a couple measurment fer sure. thank ya!
