Check on ebay or local speed shops for a used stock 5.0 Mustang cam. You can prolly get one for $20 or someone may just give you one.
I highly recommend using a new set of roller lifters. I think a new set from FMS is about $100 or so. I used an old set with 100K+ mi and they ran until 130K when they would constantly bleed out and tick real loud. Then I spent many of hours rebuilding the top end, setting valve lash, etc.
Also buy a new stock volume/pressure Melling Oil Pump. They are about $30 from SummitRacing.
Use quality gaskets too. Also don't skimp on bearings either, your motor's life rides on them...no pun intended.
You can easily chip your SD with a Mustang cam and GT-40 iron heads.
Awesome, thanks for the tips, i'll check into those purchases. I'll also let you know the damage done to the engine i'm going to rebuild after i get it apart this weekend. I think i will be shocked at how bad the damage is, yet that engine actually ran better than the 86 i just put in my truck, and it has less miles than the 91.
