while accellerating quickly from a stop, my truck makes a fast thumping noise. it almost sounds like my abs is kicking in. not very loud, but it seems to be worse while accellerating through a turn. motor mounts, tranny mount, u joints, and brakes are all new. the rear end was also just completely rebuilt. the rear shocks are also pretty new. the truck is a 92 f150 4.9l 2wd 5spd. all ideas are appreciated.
How are your spark plug wires? I'm wondering if it might be an engine miss under a severe load condition.. I had a set of wires go bad an one of my "birds" once, it ran perfect until I really loaded it up, then it missed and caused a little "shake"..
sorry to bring back this post, but my situation has gotten worse. the truck makes a clicking and popping noise while going slow, especially thru turns. it seems to be coming from the rear end. the thumping/shuttering noise is also still present. i JUST had this rear end rebuilt. how could i check my springs and and shackles in the rear?

Have you dropped the driveshaft and checked the U-joints?
Make sure that the clips are still intact on the ujoints,if they are go see the rearend rebuilder that did it. When i purchased my truck the front wheel bearings were loose and it made a horrible thump
Is it coming from you tranny? The torque converter shakes and shutters when it goes out. It is an odd feeling.
the truck has a manual transmission. do manuals have torque converters? anyway. i am gonna crawl under and check out the u joints tomorow, even tho i just put those in a few weeks ago. i brought it to the mechanic who rebuilt the rear and he said the noise was coming from my leaf spring clamps shifting. i took those off and it still makes the identical noise. if i cant find anything im gonna bring it back again.
