That does not sound like something that would happen with a stock truck. There really isn't any kind of start protection. No chipped keys or alarms. Is it possible there is an aftermarket alarm system?
Nope I dont see an aftermarket alarm system. I might also add that one of the FOB's looks different than the stock FOB, wonder if that had anything to do with it????
How long have you had the truck? Does, or did the truck have a remote start? When you say keyless entry, are you talking about the keypad on the side of the door, or a fob?
Some of the aftermarket keypads merely get you inside.
That's all the stock keypad does, too. It does not reset any kind of anti-theft system. Speaking of '07 and newer here. That is why I think we are dealing with an unknown aftermarket alarm.
Yeah I am ref. the keypad on the side of the door. I have only owned the truck for a week at this point. Trying to figure out all the lil dealio's.
So if it does it when you use the keypad, does it do it when you use a fob? Is your keypad a factory keypad that is hardwired into the truck? I have a keyless entry on my truck that is a geniune Ford part, but it just sticks on the side of the truck with two sided tape, and works on the same frequency as the fobs. When I installed it, I had to reset the fobs and set the keypad all at the same time.
Might try to reset the Key Fob and Key pad to see if this eliminates the problem.
This is a good idea, and a good starting point. The directions for doing this are in your owners manual.

This could be a problem for sure. Most aftermarket alarm systems are wired directly to the battery. Check your battery to see if there is anything still connected to the battery that shouldn't be there. If something is there then disconnect it.
My pad has stopped working. The buttons light up when touched but that's it. The FOB and the inside switches work fine. Any ideas?
Did you go through the steps to reset your fob's? Is your pad a factory pad that is hard wired, or a Ford replacement stick on pad that sticks on with two sided tape? If it is one that sticks on with two sided tape, and you reset your fob's then you also need to reset the pad because it works on the same frequency as the fob's. It you don't know the difference, take a pic and post it.
It's a 2008, with factory installed everything. I haven't added anything but new tires two days ago. I did replace fuel filters and change oil last Sunday, could I have accidently unhooked something underneath?

If it came from the factory then it is very unlikely that you unhooked something. The wiring harness is inside the door and then runs through the protected area between the door and body, and then runs right up under the dash. I would get out the owners manual and see what it says. I will say, that any time I have something stop working, and I did something, even somewhere else, I go back and retrace my steps to see exactly what I did. I have a key pad on my truck, but it is the one Ford makes that sticks on the side with two sided tape, so I am not sure about the factory installed key pad. If your pad lights up I would think it's getting power. Unless there is a battery in there. There is a way to reset the code, but I believe you need the master code, and I think that is found up under the dash. If you have an owners manual then you should see what it says. I would think this topic would be in there. Good luck.
