I have a 1979 F-150 with a fresh rebuild but I need a new camshaft. The engine is bored 0.40" over with Badger flat top pistons (producing around 9.5:1 compression according to the machine shop), new timing, edelbrock 600cfm carb on performer manifold, and 1.75" headers. What cam would you guys recommend for a mostly play truck? I want to get the most performance I can with what I have done. It will mostly be an around town, off-road, and some towing truck. Thanks in advance.
With 9.5:1 and the tire size you plan on running, you are going to have to get some lower gears to get a good balance. Right now if you put a good size cam in, low end will be suffering with the 350 gears. I'd get at least 410's for 31's. 456's for 35's.
