OK this is weird...I have a 98 E150,and when I attempt to put the van in gear the shifter wont move and the ABS light begins to flash..UNLESS!.. I turn the key a slight bit forward, and then the gear shift will move and the ABS light will turn off. The ABS light will remain unlit untill I come to a complete stop, BUT THEN!.. it will come on again. Now if im driving somewhere where I know im not going to stop for a while (highway) I can nudge the key forward in the ignition and the ABS light will go off again. As long as I dont come to a complete stop it will stay off (I could go 1 mile per hour and it wont come back on).
My brother is a mechanic but lives a bit far for him to fix it ..he says he thinks it might be an ignition problem....any ideas?
BTW I have no problems braking and I only have rear wheel ABS.I also read somewhere tha # of flashes the ABS light makes could be signalling the issue..it flashes 15 quick times, then one long time. then starts over (like 15 dots and one dash in morse code)
