Push Rod Cover

I need to replace the push rod cover gasket on my 300 ci six. Does anyone have the bolt tightening sequence and torque specs for the bolts? My Haynes manual doesn't even cover this ... maybe Chilton's does but it's not readily available.

I couldn't find anything about the sequence or torque specs either so I just started in the center and worked my way out and tightened the bolts pretty snug. I haven't spotted any leaks so far.

Snug is fine, don't over tighten it or you'll tweak the edges and it'll leak just as bad.

Sounds like that'll work fine. I can't see getting a basic torque wrench onto the bolt close to the distributor any way. Thanks for the information.

There isn't a lot of pressure, or oil, that the seal needs to keep in. It's mainly just an access cover (which I didn't realize how awesome it was until I worked on my brother's Jeep 4.0, which requires a head removal to access lifters!). Enough torque on the bolts to simply press the gasket works great. Center out is recommended too.
