Power door lock problem

I am sure this has been covered before but I could not find it on here. My power door locks stopped working on all 4 side doors using the lock/unlock button or the remote. The rear door works fine using either one but none of the side doors. I find it odd that all 4 side doors would just stop all at once. Any suggestions???? Where should I start 1st and what should I check 1st? I really need some help on this one.

Door lock actuators. There is a writeup on how to fix them in the Excursion tech thread. Its pretty easy, and most of us have had to do it at one time or another.

They can all go out pretty close to the same time. Don't waste your time with the stock ones, do an advanced search in here and do the fix.

Here is a pretty good article on fixing the door locks.

How To Fix Failing and Sluggish Power Door Locks .: Ford Truck Articles

And again the one in our tech thread.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...ch-folder.html

I guess you could burn all of them up if you held the lock or unlock button down for a long time like a stupid kid would do. The internal resistors break down over time from heat. The longer they are on the more heat. I would make sure you don't have some sort of global problem before just blindly replacing all the door lock motors. If there is no movement or clicking of the motors at all then you have some other problem. They will still try to move but weaken over time as the resistor ages and the resistance increases.

The internal resistor has increased its resistance to the point the motor does not have enough guts to open the door locks.

Do the fix and get rid of that resistor (thermister).
