73 dentside shortbed restoration project in full swing

<HR style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d1d1e1; COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title -->I have had this truck since July 2007. It came from El Paso TX. It was equipped with a 240 L6, 3 spd man trans and armstrong steering. Now it is stripped to just a cab and box on the frame. I have since powder coated all the suspension components, diff housing, crossmember, even the brake dust shields. I have nearly all the parts to start on the assembly of the truck. I have to assemble the truck in 6 months time because I am moving and need the truck to be whole again. Yikes!!! Anyhow, here are a few pics to ponder. I will update this thread as the project rolls on.

sounds like you have a nice project on your hands. Might be good to have a goal to reach every week, or month, depending on how much time you will have to work on it. Are you going back to "original" drivetrain, or are you upgrading?

We need to see some pics

I am going to a 302 with overdrive, 4 barrel carb, track lock 3:25 ratio. I am upgrading the manual 3 on tree to an auto column. Im sure there will be other upgrades along the way.

RESTORATION UPDATE

Ok I have renewed interest in my restoration project and have since torn down the truck to just the cab and bed on the frame. All suspension parts have been powder coated, king pins are new with brass bushings and the frame is cleaned and painted as far as the firewall. The next step is to move the truck back to my lift and get the rest of the frame cleaned and painted. I have done some minor rust repair to the very front of the rocker panels. Will have picks of that soon. This is the truck as it sits 10-09-2010

Here is the link to my project in tear down phase 73 F100 shortbed - a set on Flickr

<!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I picked up a brake pedal assembly with booster and bracket out of a 79 F150 4x4 for $55. It will work nicely with the auto steering column I am installing. The old 3 on the tree column and brake/clutch pedal assembly are for sale. Here are a few pics of the "NEW TO ME" booster and pedal assembly.

Of course they will be cleaned up before install.

date code on pedal housing is 4/11/79

this is the 90 F100 serp setup and 73 auto steering column also for the 73

Looking forward to watching the re-assembly. I'm getting close to the dis-assembly on my '73.
