Alright 77 F150 with 351m have done alot to truck. 2 weeks ago while driving home I was getting on interstate and truck died on me. Got towed home and replaced fuel filter and fuel pump. Truck ran great for about 4 days then same thing happened again was getting no gas. I have a brand new fuel tank in all new aluminum fuel line ran length of the truck to pump and new pump. I threw in 4 gallons of gas in the new tank and tried to crank over 3 times and the damn thing still is not getting any gas to the carb because the new filter is dry. I am at a stand still I have no clue why I am not getting gas is 4 gallons enough my gauge reads 1/4 a tank or do I have to do something to get the fuel back through the line. Any thoughts guys please I really won't my truck back.......
If you replaced the fuel pump are you sure you have the fuel pump arm "under" the eccentric?
If that's okay, what about blowing through the lines to make sure there is no blockage. New line or not, there could have been something (insect, trash, debris) down in the tubing and now its blocking fuel flow.
how would I know if i got the fuel pump arm in right when i installed it I sorta put it in angled down and pushed up on it to get it in to place. Do i need to do this differently thanks....
Spark box could have been your initial problem - they heat - die - cool - work again....
If it ran decent for 4 days the pump is obviously workin/worked .... plugged fuel pickup maybe???

Thats the way I put them in also, if you felt resistance pushing down when you were lining up the bolts then its probably installed correctly.
Hi from Dr. Gene in VT. I own a 1951 1/2 ton Merc truck. What is the correct style air breather, the Ford one with the 1/2 dome top with ribs or the plain flat top with a small saucer on top? Shalom and ciao, Dr. Gene
What about the pickup in the tank, was that replaced? IS it possible the clog is in the carb at this point? What about the line coming out of the tank, is there a piece of rubber there, that could be sucking air? I would trace the line and make sure there is no leaks, at any joints, hose clamps tight etc,etc,...
the only thing I did not change in the whole mix was the fuel sending unit which I did clean up and make sure it wasn't clogged. I didn't think it needed to be replaced as my fuel gauge works just fine and thought that was all it was for tomorrow I will recheck the line for any kinks I know there is no leaks....
could it just be I have to keep cranking to get fuel up to the carb since everything is new how long should it take or should I just right away be receiving gas...
if you pull the line off the carb, does fuel pump out of the hose? i had a vehicle recently that the float was sticking in the closed position every so often
yeah, may have to prime it, just pour small amounts of fuel down carb, get it cranked and keep it alive for 10 seconds or so then if that don't get any fuel to coming there is something definitely wrong. i had a 79 f-150 with dual tanks and if i ever ran one out it would take forever for the other to pick up, if none of that works maybe ur new pump is bad, parts stores nowadays i wouldnt doubt it one bit.
take the line off the carb. i had a clear filter too and you wouldnt see any fuel. it couldnt get past the air that was trapped. take the line off and things would go back to normal
