I came across a few pics on some old cell phones and thought I'd share. Sucks those old phones are such low resolution though. I thought it would be kind of cool to see other peoples broken parts as well. I've had some other broken stuff on my Mustangs and my old Contour but I figure I'll just post the truck pics. These are the only 2 things I've broken on my truck. But I have a few broken pistons, broken trans gears, broken spiders and a broken ring gear from other vehicles.
First one is the twisted off pinion. I was pulling out on the highway in 2nd gear and opened it up pretty good and heard a loud bang. I got out and the driveshaft was hanging down in the back. I looped a chain from the frame rails and drove to my dads with the front wheels which was less than a mile. I found a 9 inch from a 1983 Ford van with 3.50 gears for free and swapped the center section out.
Next is a broken front yoke. I was on a 2 lane highway and downshifted to 3rd to pass a car. It broke as soon as I let the clutch back out, I was right along side the car I was passing. I hear another loud bang and the engine revved. I coasted back behind the car and to the side of the road. I looked under the truck and the driveshaft was gone and is no where in site! I start walking down the road expecting to see it in the ditch. Well as a come over the top of a hill I see it laying in the road with cars going around it, I should have taken a picture of that! haha. I'm really lucky no one hit it or if the driveshaft would have hit the car I was passing. Again drove it home with the front wheels, about 20 miles this time. For this one I bought a front yoke from Bronco Graveyard. Well I had one hell of a vibration after that so I had the driveshaft retubed.
So lets see some cool broken parts, I'm sure there will be lots better than mine!
I installed new u joints, and put my boggers on, then my buddy asked me to do a burn out...I figured well can burn off my 33" bfgs, maybe i can light up the boggers as well. NOPE! I got the throttle about 1/2 in and then there was a loud bang, the truck jerked, heard another bang and then saw my driveline rolling down my driveway.I have not tried to do a burn out since then.
Well, no pictures, as this was before the time of cell phones. But, The multiple Dana 60s under my Supercab proved for some interesting carnage. Stuffed part of side gear thru the bottom of the case, snapped a couple of axles lengthwise, stripped 7 teeth off the ring gear. I grenaded a u joint so bad once doing a burnout, I broke the bellhousing tabs. It tore the tail shaft off the tranny. That was expensive and left a nice dent in the floor LOL.

To many to list (altho the list is getting shorter)
Look in my gallery at my old red truck for broken parts haha, only things undamaged that I could save were 3 tires and the blinker stick!
On my new truck I lost a wheel and ground the brake rotor down about an inch "stopping". Shattered the Belleville spring in my C6 into all 8 of it's seperate sections, which of course meant no pressure on my plates, whiiiich meant steel glazed fibers, and gouged out steels, it was nasty in there! Ate a crank about 3/16 of an inch deep, it was knocking like a hammer. Cracked both heads in one night.
The rest is either rust/age stuff, or just broken bolts and all of that, which there has been a LOT of haha.
Mine's not as impressive, but this was what I found to be the cause of a vibration in my '79 last year. I pulled the rotor off, and several of the rollers in this outer wheel bearing scattered across the garage floor.
On my old '79 F150, I cracked the carrier in the 9 inch. The ring gear was fine, but it split all the way around right behind the bolts.......that sucked....
