Yeah, my sterling has held up so far. I painted that line on it when I put it in. In that pic it had about a dozen hooks on it. It was twisted about 180 degrees, but in the last two pulls of the season it didn't twist noticeably further. Some other pullers have advised me that as long as it's not twisted 360 degrees it'll be fine. I was amazed that axle shafts can take a "set" like that and still not break. Not yet anyway.
I once forgot to put gear oil in my front Dana 44 diff. It snowed months later and all excited put it in 4wd. It lasted a good while maybe 40km then boom. Pinion sheared every tooth! Had it fixed the next day. I driveway overhaul in the snow ..
Ive had a lot of breakages but unfortunately I dont take pics as often as I should.
Busted a 460 block from the mains to the top of the deck, broke two pistons, bent a valve and sent a ***** ton of shrapnel into the combustion chamber of a set of Trick Flow heads. - no good pic of the crack itself.
Broke the yokes out of the 4 D44HD shafts and the body of a spicer locking hub all at once.
