I just bought a edge CTS I had a super chips programmer installed in my truck.
I pulled the super chips programmer and put it to the stock setting. Then I started to install the edge CTS it could never get a communication with the trucks computer.
If I shorted the computer where do I get one?
can ford or ? install a new program in the old computer?
this is my daily commuter so Im not working untill I get the truck up and running. well until I can get a rental car
Are you sure you didn't blow the fuse that powers the port? It's the same fuse for the cig lighter, see if the lighter works
If you need the PCM reflashed DP Tuner can do a stock flash for I believe $45 (check their site to be sure)
I believe the dealer wants around $95
not sure if it can reset I have puled the fuse to check it that I think would of done the trick if it had some sort of auto reset. I'll give it a shot. but I'm thinking about the super tuner and I don't remember it restoring the stock program. and I was talking to my neibor when I pulled it out of the plug. OOOPS
I think it's s SC Programmer that flashed the PCM, not a chip that goes on the PCM, Pat. But something is up, obviously. Doesn't sound too promising. Comm error & no-start likely = dead PCM.
I thad thought when I was reading the Hypertch instructions, they wanted you "NOT" to pull the connector while changing the program. This is why I asked..
well all is better in my trucks world.
I found a great mechanic "the truck stop" in temecula ca. they re-flashed my ecu. helped me with my AC is has been on the fritz for most of the summer.
I finished installing my Edge CTS is really pushes the truck faster than my old programer, reads all the trucks sensors oil temp, trans, temp plus a bunch more. So far I very happy with it, and the service I got at "the truck stop"
Great to hear that you got it fixed. It's always good to hear success stories, especially when a local shop is involved. I think that sometimes they are a "well kept secret".
