Interior lights...your Bronco do this too?

Whenever I have the drivers side door open the interior lights are on but a little dim, but when you open the passenger side it gets brighter...the brightness it should be. If you have just the passenger side it is like it should be and nothing happens when you open the drivers side...but if both are open and you close the passengers side the light goes dim again. What is the cause of this? I have changed the bulb and the wiring connections look fine. Hehe, sorry for the riddle-like info.

Also, the rear cargo light won't turn on by the switch but turns on when the doors are open. What gives?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

I'm not the best with wiring, but I'll give you my opinion. It sounds like the driver side door circuit is not getting full voltage (partially broken wire, corrosion on connectors???). As for the cargo light, there should be a separate circuit for the door switches & the other switch. This also sounds like it could be a broken or maybe even disconnected wire. Is there possibly a fuse that could be blown for the circuit that runs through the switch? I would check the fuses & then look for broken/disconnected wires going to the cargo light. I don't know if any of this will help or if I've even made clear what I'm trying to say, but this is what came to mind when I read your question. Maybe someone with a better understanding of wiring can add some more insight. Good luck!

The driver's door switch is dirty from more use - open the door, pull slightly on the pin, and spin it several times back & forth to knock off all the corrosion.

The cargo light problem is under the driver's threshhold or shoulder belt reel cover. The wires & connectors there get a lot of water, and they corrode badly.
