Hey there. Just got new head lights and now I am moving on to wanting some tail lights as well. I like the LED ones for sure but they are all pretty expensive. I will eventually be blacking out my toolbox and wheels, but I want the tail lights to look good with my headlight style as well. Here is my truck now.....
Also. I heard that some people got the led lights and housings to put in their stock back up lights. Where would I get the supplies to do this? Pricing?
If you can, please post pics of all your tail lights everyone. I want to make a decision.
I like the ones on Kris' truck best, but of the Ebay links #2 gets my vote. You can get LED bulbs at places like Autozone that fit in the stock lights.
My truck used to be white and I had these lights...
I still have them, they're in perfect condition. If you like'em I'll give'em to ya for 50 bucks! My truck is red now so I have carbon fiber ones. Saaa-weet. lol
Isnt there an issue with running LED's and something with the torque converter lock up? I might be wrong but seems like I remember something?
That's something new to me. I haven't heard that. I've had LED's on my truck since 06 and haven't had a problem with the trans. A few others, but nothing along those lines. lol I can't even see how that would be related or cause a problem. Id be interested to read about it if you find a posting or something about it.
I personally prefer the Recon lights. They're a little more pricey, but I've been running the same reverse and front turn signal LEDs from recon for over 3 years(and two trucks) with zero problems. The white reverse lights look super sharp. The red LEDs in the brake light are kinda pointless. They are sharper and clearer, but there's not a whole lot of difference. I had the full LED taillights like Mickeys got on my '05, and they looked sharp as tacks as well. They're really expensive new, but he's got a heckofa deal for ya. If you don't take it, I just might. I REALLY like the way they look.
I love my Recon LEDs. Great fit and look great IMO. Jump on Mikey's deal.
Spool: Where did you get those new headlights and turn signals? They look great. I'm ready for an upgrade. After 233K miles my stock headlights have seen better days.
Side note: I was about to buy a LED 3rd brake light from Recon to match my tails. Reading up on this now it might not be a good idea with the TC lockup problems. Anyone have any insight on this? This is all new to me.
Alan, that is quite interesting. Never even would've thunk! I see their point now and they may just be referring to the replacement led bulbs that you put in the stock taillights. Most of these led assembles now come with load equalizers which prevent that fast flashing that would happen when a bulb goes out. Like a few of us on here said, we havent had any problems. Good find tho!
I completely understand, and I wasnt saying that there would be an issue I just had remembered some form of discussion on the subject and figured I should back up my suspicions. I do believe too that the assemblies will have the resistors and such in order to balance and equalize the load.
Thanks to "mikeyc0120" (Michael). I am going to be getting these in the mail soon !
Small chip in the corner there, but for $50 bucks I cant complain. They are usually more than that.
