Are you willing to chance it? Do you believe the filter manufacturer will pay for repairs if their filter fails .

if the filter fails there will be more than just Teflon tape making it's way to the injectors ...
I can see where your concern is valid, if this was a post filter application I agree 100% but in this case I see no issue with tape

Is the company daring fate, suction side, are they kidding ?
You are inviting (begging) the teflon to be sucked into the fuel stream.
What company is making this recommendation?
Do not take my rant as offensive. I want to emphasize that teflon is a poor choice of sealants to be considered an appropriate choice for this purpose.
