I had an accident friday morning going to work . American tire forgot to tighten my lugs on my front driver side wheel . It came off when I was on a city street doing about 35mph . The wheel hit the fender and put me up in the air and slammed to the ground on the rotor . When I looked at the damage the I -beam bracket on the driver side was also damaged , pics in my gallery . So I am looking for a new driver side I-beam bracket . Can anyone help or have one . I know they are riveted on . I plan on getting an attorney as well . I hurt my back on impact and loosing 3 days of work . It is going to the claims department at american tire as well . I just hope they cover the cost of fixing my truck and paying for hospital bills , meds , etc . And a rental car . Has anyone gone through this before ? I am really luck I was not killed or hurt anyone else , I was headed for the freeway when this happened . Thanks for any help , I really need this bracket , the other parts are I can get , rotor , dust shield , fender , wheel . Thanks .
Sorry to hear about your accident.
I would deffinintely take them to task, if not court.
Hope you're okay.

Yes, if the wheel came off, it's on them, and their insurance. I would pursue that asap.
Yeah, and don't let them pull the "well, its JUST an OLD truck". Let them know you're no dummy and you KNOW what your truck is worth, not what they TELL you its worth.
Let us know how things turn out.
Dude, sorry to hear about that! Looking at the pics I wonder if that tweaked the passenger side beam any? Hopefully they won't try to fight you too much, and they'll admit fault.
Back in 1978 when I was going through basic it was winter and I needed some snows for my car 'cause I had to be at the academy every Sunday. Tire shop where a buddy worked had a sale, I got 2 snows with studs for the rear and two plain janes for the front just for this winter season. Car was a stock '67 Chevelle SS with 4 spd and posi. I had them take my Rally's off and I put them away for spring, they put the new tires on some 15x7 heavy steel "mag" looking '73 Z-28 wheels with the narrow trim rings that I had.
There I am going to Richmond down the highway, and something isn't right, front starts to vibrate a bit. I pull over and look, all looks OK, but I pull out a 4 way and check.
Damn lugs were loose on the front on both sides, not way loose yet, but loose just the same. Rears were OK.
I drove on after tightening the lugs and the following Saturday when back at home I looked close and saw the studs were chewed a little so I replaced those 10. My buddy had changed the tires for me and he tightened the rears while another guy there had installed the fronts. I went by and told my buddy what happened.
From that day to this, I have never trusted anyone else to tighten my lugs. Even if I watch them do it ... I just cannot rest until I've gone back over them ... though now I do it with a T-wrench.
Thanks everybody , waiting on the claim adjuster to interview me and asses the damage , out of work for a few days and my back is sore . And yes I mormally check my lugs after new wheels , but was so tired from work that I forgot . Will update when I hear more , just want my truck fixed and reimbursed for loss of work , Dr bill , rental car and pain and suffering . Wanted to make sure I can get the part I need if they can't . I dont want them to call it a total because it can be fixed .
Thanks for the part # and phone numbers . The appraiser for the ins co. finally came out tuesday . He assesed the damage , replace wheel and tire , i beam bracket , driver fender , plastic fender liner , rotor and dust shield and bumper . So now waiting game for the approval . Dr gave me another week off of work , back still hurtin . The mechanic said something about the wheels I have and the bore size should be smaller to fit the hub . I never heard this before with aftermarket rims , does anyone know the stock wheel bore size for a 77 f 100 2wd ? The rims I am running are american racing outlaw 1 . I asked if that would be a problem with the claim , they said no . So I learned something but always ran this bore size on my truck for 20 years with no problems.
Don't let the adjuster total loss your truck. It will then have to have a salvage title. I went through this nightmare with mine. They over price the repairs and if it's 80% or higher of what the blue book is it's considered a total loss. If his estimate is that high, you can take it some place you trust to get a different estimate.
Sorry to hear about your back mostly and secondly your truck. I have a 77' F100 2wd and pretty much any 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern wheel should work. I don't know the height or diameter of yours, but mine are 16 x 8. Might want the mechanic to clarify that one for you.
Stock bore is probably around 3.5-3.75, because my rims have 4.25 bore size and there's about a 1/2" space around the hub. I've been running mine for over 2 years now with no issue of them not being I believe it's called "hubcentric".
