hey boys got a question for you. i have a rattle on the exhaust of my f250 5.4l 2006 and want to know if the heat shield on the muffler at the back is needed? it is viberating or rattling. cleaned rocks out of it but hasnt fixed it.... please let me know if you have a way to get rid of this
also on a side note i put up a few pics of the truck with the trailer mirrors and bug deflector and new tires.
IMHO if ford put it there it is needed... although i just had one fall off (the one you can see through the front passenger side wheel well) and i haven't replaced it yet.
this is at the back of the truck. can be seen from the passenger side wheel well. it looks to be just a heat shield or something. held on by two metal straps.

Are you talking about the muffler itself with the shield around it and the 2 metal straps?
anybody else know if theres a solution to the shield on the muffler at the back of the truck? its not welded on just strapped on. would it be bad to take it off?

Sounds like your options are:
1) remove and hope it doesn't melt something.
2) try to fashion something (maybe out of band clamps) to hold it on tighter.
3) take it to a shop and tell them to fix it.
Maybe take a few pictures and post them up, perhaps that will inspire a solution.
