Any tips/tricks that will help me out on the install?
Special tools i should pick up?
One more thing, the mile marker hubs are quite a deal. 160 bucks for everything, and the warns from most places are 150-170, PLUS 50 for the conversion kit! thats insane. i saved myself well over 50 bucks.
Not sure how well these perfer for serious off roading, but for simple snow 4x4ing i should be set )
You'll need the 4 prong spanner wrench for installing the locknuts. I put milemarkers on my explorer this last summer. Only thing I'll mention is check out the conversion kit you get from milemarker carefully. The locknuts I got from milemarker were not machined properly and wouldn't fit the spanner wrench. I made do, but I should have taken them back and had them try again as soon as I discovered that they didn't fit the wrench right.
for EVERY OTHER ford truck the hubs are much cheaper here is off the autozone site
For a 1991 Ford ranger 4x4 4.0 EFI

IF O.E.M. AUTOMATIC HUBS, A CONVERSION KIT IS REQURIED
TO CONVERT TO MANUAL HUBS
MILE_MARKER
HUB CONVERSION KIT 95-27997 $36.01
For a 1991 Ford F-150
MILE_MARKER
STREET MASTER (STD.) 302 3 MO $58.99
CHROME -- IF O.E.M. AUTOMATIC HUBS, A CONVERSION KIT

Big Diff..i don't understand why!
Is it because full size trucks/broncos are so much more popular than the ranger pickups? Who knows but its a bit of a pain when i looked at warns for a f150 for 80 bucks and then you get 160 bucks for rangers from warn!
The only thing i care is that my 4x4 works, and i get rid of the useless autohubs(never liked them on any of the 4x4s i've owned)

i used a dental pick every time i put new bearings or cleaning the hubs it is a nice thing to have in your tool box.I have big fingers so getting the lock ring on the spanner nut is sometimes a pain. just a thought.
As toddy advised, the dental pick type tool (wally mart or napa, etc for $5.00) helps immensely. Some pals use small flat bladed screwdrivers; some even have used finishing nails, esp if in a money bind. http://www.cumminstools.com/browse.cfm/4,466.html
use the lube that comes with the kit; don't over-lube the new hubs. My gallery has a few tech article links by other Ford pals, incl. Steve83 and Chris B.
.
$80.00 maybe for a half ton I just put MM on my one ton they were $157.00 Warrens were $200.00. Thats not having to buy any conversion. Already had manuale lock out.
all you really need is the 4 prong 4wheel drive tool. you can rent it at auto zone and take it back when your done cause its not an every day tool that you use. thats what i did its way better than buying the tool and never using it again
