I've been reading many of the posts on here and on other sites and am a bit confused as to which hubs to go with. I don't go off road and mainly use 4wd for snow. That being said, besides cost, what is the real difference between the Warn 11690's and the Mile Marker 449ss? Does Mile Marker have an equivalent to the Warn 38826?
On an install note, can the new hubs be installed without removing the wheel? I've also purchased an ABS Grease fitting from Snowseeker. Do I want to wait and grease after the new hubs have been installed??
i did the mile marker bc of cost and i do not off road my truck...just snow as well. you can change them without pulling the wheel i believe, i'd guess you can use the grease fitting with the wheel on as well but it will be much easier to remove. i would install new hubs and then grease. i got my fitting after i did the hubs and need to pull my wheels and grease it up.
Not sure on the grease fitting, but the hubs can be replaced without removing wheels. I went with Warns just because of availability here, the MM hubs have good reviews also, from what I have read.
I have been thinking of replacing my OEM but love the shift on the fly. Mine need to be rebuilt and they do not turn at all, so does anyone have a decent pair of OEM's that want to get rid of?
What problem are you having with the 449ss that is making you considering a different hub ?
The Warn 38826 is in their "premium" line of hubs......by equivalent, I mean does MM have a premium line or is the 449ss the premium line of hub from MM?

MM only sells 1 hub for the 60
The warn and the MM work on the same principle, both unilize all metal construction.
The difference comes down to materials and machining fit and finish.
My subjective observations from seeing and breaking numerous hubs is the warn units are stronger but if you are not consistently breaking your current hubs that is probably a moot point.
Okay, but does anyone think it is a little ignorant that the aftermarket hubs do not fit the damn OEM hub cap? Or use AIR to lock them?
My OEMs are eaten up, PLIERS only turn, and Once unlocked I have to remove them and slap the spindle out to get them unlocked...then put them back on to keep dust out.
Sure, I need new ones....but.....why is this such a damn problem to make ones that work as intended.

Other way around.
Those hubs have been standard fare since the 70's. Just like Ford felt it nessasary to change the long standardized 8x6.5 lug pattern they also deviated from the proven hub design.
The whole point of manual hubs is .. Well they are manual and built for strength not fashion. No wires, hoses or other trinkets to fail like the stock vacuum setup. Fwiw..... Warn builds the stock hubs for ford.
pirate, I agree the aftermarket and anything WARN is superior....I just hate they do not fit the hub cap. And lets face it...auto is pretty handy for the wife.
...all the times I had to get out and "lock in" my childhood memories....ahhhh....
Ford for life here...from 65 to now...I know the path
What do you mean fit the hubcap? Mine fit just fine. I have the Warn premiums buy once cry once.

The OEM lockers are like 3-4 inches tall and come out flush with the hub cap....the warn are short and leave a gap that snow/ice get into the center hub cap.
You can mod the hub cover by removing the springy lug nut grabber things in the hub covers, replacing them with F150 springy grabber thingies, and shaving the hub covers down so they fit. It's been done before and there was a pictorial how-to thread posted many years ago, unfortunately the picture links are broken so the thread is pretty useless.
Oh yeah, I forgot, there's also an OEM wheel and hub cover that fits perfectly with the Warn hubs, I just can't remember which year/style of wheel it is.
I think Christina has those wheels I'm referencing above.
