Finally got my donor frame home a week ago. I've started tearing in. Some folks are very concerned about the condition of said donor, but as I'm getting going I think the photos are misleading. It's cleaning up nicely.
Gave the good heat shields from the donor a fresh coat of paint - just happens to be the trim color of the truck but it's what was on hand. Scuffed and cleaned off the rust and light scale, gave it a coat of Eastwood rust encapsulator, then hit it with high heat primer and then the prairie tan metallic. They're buried in the belly of the beast, so, the likelihood they'll be seen is small, but, at least they won't rust (quickly) anymore.
Small task today, just had other things needing my time. Late Model Restoration sells a replica/replacement Lightning style third brake light, so I decided to pick that up. L guys want hundreds of dollars for OEM ones, so, let's give the replica a shot. I like the fitment, but I do plan on painting it and the window surround for the back of the cab in the gloss black that the truck is, so it looks like the cab, brake light, and surround are all one piece. Different touch that I rarely see done.
