No, I didn't do anything - I'm in the middle of a move so nothing's happening right now. But I did dumb into this picture.
First Ford truck in my history. 1991 Ford Ranger STX. Man, I wish I could track one down like it today. 4x4, SuperCab, 4.0L V6, manual everything (hubs, windows, doors, transmission, etc.). Bucket seats up front, jump seats in the rear. A lot of fun this truck was.
My 99 Ranger actually resembled the "Splash" edition - had the flareside bed on it and stuff. It didn't have power windows or locks, but it was a 5-speed with the 3.0L FlexFuel V6. It ran pretty well too.
Scott - I enjoyed it thoroughly. Too bad the frame was a mess on it from being wrecked, which I didn't know. Once it was paid off, I got out of it.
Because I know you all anxiously want an update ...
Eastwood paints arrived today, so you know what is coming now - chassis painting. That and a new power steering gear box ...mine sprung a leak at the pitman seal..
Had good success getting the steering box on yesterday. Took a bit of effort, but doesn't every project like that? Oddly enough, looks like the box had been replaced once already given the stamp on the side of the old one (points to a 2003 manufacture date on a 1998 truck...hmmm...)
Anyhow - remember I said I had some surprises in store? Well, SURPRISE!
This is a cold-air system (hence the box surrounding the filter). Word got out to a local hot-rodder friend of mine that I had moved, and this system ended up being a "housewarming gift" from him...his words: "since you're probably overextended on the house at the moment, here's something fun for you..." lol. It perked up the engine a little, both looks and a little pop in the throttle according to the butt-dyno. And Matt was with me yesterday when it went on, and he says the exhaust note dropped a touch.
Thanks Eric. Next for the engine compartment is a good thorough steam clean and then I want to get some Coolflex for the radiator hose. Not going to do much else in there for now I don't think...
Gerry - I have duals already on it...got it that way. Just a cat-back system, essentially (single entrance/dual exit muffler and the pipes) but the headers, cats and other up front stuff is all stock.
