I have a 92 f150 5.0 manual transmission and a borg warner 1356 manual shift transfer case. The other day I was driving at 55 mph and there was an awful grinding sound then no power to the wheels. I went through all the gears and got nothing until I got it to locke into 4x4 low. So now I have it home I have an electric shift borg warner 1356 and was wondering has anyone switched from a manual shift to an electric shift transfer case and what would it take to do so? Any help would be appreciated.
I am also interested in this question. I bought a E4OD with an electric shift transfer case for dirt cheap. So the matter of rebuilding the old vs buying electric is not the question.
I opened the old transfer case and it is in horrible shape. Not really worth the rebuild. So I also ponder the ability to turn this truck into a manual electric shift.
Are there wire diagrams for the shifting mechanism so one can rig up their own controls to manage this?
This shouldn't be too hard to do. All your looking at closing that whole in the floor and getting the wiring figured out. I'll be watching this thread, because I'm parting out my old truck with manual 4x4 and might want to put it into my push button 4x4 truck.
