Exclamation Transfer case oil help!

ive got a borg warner 13-56 transfer case manual shift with a slipyoke rear out put.. truck is an 89 f250 with a 302 and five speed...i blew my old tcase one up and this one is from a junker..but i went to a car quest and asked them what kind of oil and they told me 4 quarts of transmission oil...well so i was filling it up to the fill hole and it only took 2 quarts...now i think they may have mistaken what i said and gave me the oil for the tranny insted...because i think there should be more of like a gear lube in there...input on this would be great! truck will not be driven till im sure about the oil.

I'd delete that post, but I can't from my phone...I just realised you had the t-case, not diff. I checked the amsoil site and they say ATF too...

According to my Haynes for 1980 thru 1996 Ford Pickups and Bronco:

Transfer case lubricant.............Mercon (Ford Part no. XT-2-QDX or DDX)

Capacities:
Transfer case (U.S. pints unless specified)
Borg Warner 13-56 manual and electronic shift:.........2 U.S. Quarts.

Truck level, fill it to the lower edge of the fill/level bung with Dexron/Mercron automatic trans fluid.

transfer cases are basically transmissions themselves. and like people said, just drive it around and shift it through the 2H to 4L gears and then check level and fill accordingly
