Hi guys I hope someone out there can help! I am putting a cab on my 77 f-250 4x4. In the process I decided that I wanted cruise and tilt steering, which I had in a 78 bronco for parts. The problem lies within the wiring harness for the bronco. It does not have the wires for dual tanks, or the hook ups for putting that part of the harness from the pickup in. Anyone ever messed with this before? Do you know of any wiring diagrams I can down load. And finally Do you think there are any more hidden problems? Thanks Moe
I should add that the cab is a 76 2wd and I have taken the wiring harness out and replaced it with a harness out of a 78 bronco. I wanted the tilt, cruise and air!!!!
The wiring harness on the column is the same for both columns with the T/S switch being different between the Tilt & Non-Tilt.
You need the cruise wiring which allows the horn circuit from non-cruise to turn the harness into cruise.
The includes the new horn circuit with relay, wiring to cruise control amplifier.
I made up a complete list to swap in cruise in a non-cruise truck if you're interested?
Thanks Dennis ! I knew I could count on you. I do have all the parts that I need for the cruise. I dont have the hook ups for the tank selector switch by the temp control. The bronco harness had a rear window switch. I took the plug off the pickup harness and it has the brown/white wire for the selector valve but not the orange wires for the fuel gauges. This is were I am stumped!!!
Thanks for the help! Moe
Dennis
I am afraid that it is a part of the main harness. There is a smaller harness that the plug end for the switch is connected to. This then plugs into the main harness. If you know the whereabouts of a harness or someone that has one let me know. This is what I think that I need---- A harness out of a 78 or 79 with cruise and A/C with factory dual tanks. Oh did you say that you can use the harness out of a pickup that does not have cruise and add it in? If that is an option I could use the harness out of the 76 that was in the cab. I cant tell you how much your help means to me! Thanks Moe
There is a smaller harness that the plug end for the switch is connected to. Correct.
This then plugs into the main harness. Okay!
If you know the whereabouts of a harness or someone that has one let me know. Will Do.
This is what I think that I need----
A harness out of a 78 or 79 with cruise
The cruise harness is an add-on from a regular harness
and A/C part of 14441 harness
with factory dual tanks. I have to check for with or without 14441 harness
Oh did you say that you can use the harness out of a pickup that does not have cruise and add it in? Me use it ? No!.
A person who wants to add cruise control to a non-cruise truck can do so by an adding on the special harnesses
If that is an option I could use the harness out of the 76 that was in the cab. There are two harnesses that go from the underhood to the underdash to operate the cruise control
I thought you said you had all the parts you needed?
(How about Special Brake booster & Brake pedal assembly ?)
