If the engine moved any significant distance forward or side to side, as it seems it did it is a good indicator that the rear transmission mount is tweaked also.
Insulators are available at any auto parts store. The 300 was installed in millions of trucks.
Here is the left and right at Autzone for 14 bucks and 8 bucks.
If it does not fit in the perch holes the trans mount has been damaged. When Christine attempted to kill my son just hitting him and the tool cabinets furnace tore the rear mount off of the back of my 472 C6 combo. I had to replace the transmission tail shaft housing and the insulator.
Those are exactly what I have sitting here but my transmission mount doesn't look tweaked. Plus they don't match what came off of the truck originally, the only thing I have read about using these mounts with success was on a 88' 300.

Well I have come to the conclusion they were the same mount used for both the left and right sides someone simply cut the drivers side down to fit....<a href="http://s73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/Joeseph311/?action=view¤t=DSCI1188.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i229/Joeseph311/DSCI1188.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
The transmission mount needs replaced I looked the whole thing over and there was about 3/4" of really clean metal on the drive shaft. I popped the mount which after removing is definitely tweaked and it slid right into place. I took care of all the oil leaks and replaced all the lower gaskets while I had it up so the motor is running way better, now I just gotta fix the other parts I broke lol.
Old post, but the most relevant to my problem. I have a 75 e150 and I have been trying to figure out why I had such a hard time getting my transmission mount to line up during a clutch replacement. I even had to make a custom bracket to move my carrier bearing an inch back so it would line up properly.
The previous owner mentioned that the engine had been replaced or rebuilt. I'm convinced that the mechanic that did it used f150 mounts, because my engine is pushing everything rearward.
ND, I am following this mount issue for the 300 I6, and when working on my rig down in Baja, the local auto parts sold me 2 new mounts, that came from India, and neither fit. My truck is 4x4ever, and the chassis & motor are '72. I have two questions,
1) What mount part numbers should I look for?
2) What is the name of the place in Santa Monica?
Thanks amigo
Baja
Oops, my server did not bring up page 2... thanks ND, I have the SM parts house... btw, I love Santa Monica, my mother was born there, and I spent many a day, as a youth, on the beaches there...
Need motor mounts for 1976 F100 300 I6 2wd (2331 and 2332)
Hi all. I'm brand new here. I bought a truck for my son and had a mechanic look over it. He recommended replacing the motor mounts, but said when he ordered them, he received mounts that were too large. He mentioned something about 'early model' in explaining why he's not receiving the correct parts. He told me that the part numbers are 2331 and 2332. I've included a photo...the right mount in the photo is what we need and the left mount in the photo is what he received. Anyone know where I could get these smaller mounts? Need the mounts on the right hand side (2331 and 2332?)
