I have had my EL Limited now for about 3 days and i have nearly figured out all the buttons on this thing. But 2 things i cant figure out, on the driver sunvisor, there three little buttons with a what looks like a house symbol, my instincs and common sense tells me its the garage door opener (i think), but i cannot find any reference to it in the manual. Any one have any insight on the "how to's" of this feature?
Also, the infamous key pad code. The dealership said they did not have the code and the card with the code on it was not in the black book in the glove box, so does anyone know were on the vehicle somewhere the code is located? Frame, under dash, kick panel?
There are 3 buttons--all will work with most electronic door openers. Your garage opener should have a 'sync' button on the back of it somewhere. For my 450 and Nav, simply hold down the button you want to use and the door opener should indicate it is receiving a signal--then just pust the sync button on the opener and it should work. I use the end buttons on both vehicles for the garage and driveway gate openers. It works very well and you don't have to have an opener hidden away somewhere. By the way, Ford calls it 'HOMELINK' might look for that reference in the owners manual.
As for the keypad codes--if you did not get them with the vehicle, you will need to go to a dealer with the VIN. Some dealers will look it up for free, others will charge.
Not sure when they stopped putting the keypad codes somewhere under the dash, but on my '07 Nav, it wasn't anywhere. Dealer only place to get it from their computer. My '08 came with the code card.

It's called Homelink and is outlined in the owner's manual how to reset and then program for your garage door openers. If you have two separate doors you can use two of the buttons, if you have rc home lighting you can use the third button. Google the owners manual for the 2007 Ford expy and a pdf should show up somewhere. It's simple to do once you have the instructions in hand.
Homelink is fairly easy to program, but you do need to follow the steps fairly closely. The is a whole step-by-step section in my 07 limited manual, should be the same in yours.
I don't know about the '10, but my '07 came with the code card in the black book.
Ford used to put the default factory key-code on the door-lock/keypad module placed somewhere inside the vehicle. On the old Explorers, it was deep under the seat and you could read the factory code off the side of the module. With the newer models, I'm not sure if they still do that or even where the module is located on our newer Expys. If you had just bought the truck, I would definately head back to the dealer and have your salesperson look up the code for you.
Much easier than trying to take anything apart to find the module.
Thanks Berry. I was kinda iffy on that. I figure the dealers want you to come in so they can "diagnose" the code from the "Dealer-Only" programming.....
