Did you purchase it from a Ford dealer? If so,ask them to retrieve the code. I think they can get it by VIN or retrieve it from the on-board computer.

I had the same situation. My local Houston Dealer wanted $85.00 for the job. I ended up taking it to a smaller dealer who reprogrammed it for me for $35.00. No trouble at all.

Anyway, any dealer can do it for you. Just call yours and ask how much to reprogram your door code.

Hope this helps.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding... However, if you've got the owner's manual it'll explain how to program your very own code. This does not, however eliminate the original mfr's code. Unless you suspect someone else (untrustworthy) of having that code, whassa dif?

If you don't have the manual, ask and I'll send you the directions for doing this lil' chore.

Soarhead,

You need the factory code to be able to program a personal one.

I'm not sure about the Excursions, but I have owned two Explorers with keyless entry. In both cases the factory code is printed inside the vehicle. It was found behind a panel in the cargo area (where the jack was stored). The six digit code was a white sticker the was adheared to some sort of black box (ya don't get more technical than that!). At any rate, it was slightly hidden behind the panel toward the front of the vehicle. Worth a shot!

Yah, I heard of the code being on both those places (jack panel, and computer up under dash,) but I sure couldn't find it on my '01. I ended up paying the dealer $37 to hook it up and pull the code for me.

On the late models with the central security module the code is on the module but the module is VERY difficult to access. It is mounted center of dash on the firewall behind the dash. Its far easier to just have the dealer retrieve the code. Early models used the GEM module for keyless entry.

I have an expedition so I can't speak to the exact location in your truck but I wasn't given the mfr's code either when I bought mine. I found my code up under the passenger side dash board stamped (or sticker I can't remember) on a black box. I didn't see it the first time I looked but on a second try with a flashlight I found it way up there. I guess I could have just paid the dealer but I'm cheap Hope this can be of some help.
