The whole reason for the 4" is cooler EGTs. ( although it sounds real nice ). I would suggest the Turbo back.

I Do have a question though, is your truck a stick? I dont believe you have a cat otherwise.

One goes from the cat back, the other goes from the turbo back. I would suggest do it up right the first time and get the turbo back system. That way you replace the stock downpipe with an upgraded 4" downpipe. A lot of guys around here use MBRP (myself included) and love the price/ease of install/sound. It's up to you though. Maybe some guys with some other brands will chime in...

Most companies don't make a cat back for a 7.3L from what I have seen.

Here is what I get about the 5"

You will still only have a 4" downpipe.
You will not spool up as fast,
Your temps will be lower.
Other then sound though, there is no real bennifit.

Others will chime in, and most likely will have more info. But I dont see the real bennifits. My opinion came from Diane at DP and a converstaion she had with another on this forum.

Unless you are over 500 or 600hp. It is pointless to have 5". And like Pat said, it is a 4" downpipe no matter what. You might as well run 4" turbo back (do turbo back for sure) and get a 5" or 6" exhaust tip. Have it all welded too! I have 4" turbo back with a 5" tip (all welded) and it sounds and performs great. hope this helps. After you do that, get the 6637 filter if you haven't already. Or do 6637 first. Either way.

He could have a cat, I did on my e99 with an auto tranny. If you don't have to worry about emissions testing, get a full 4" exhaust. 5" isn't worth the money, except for looks and bragging rights.

I just put on a SS (409) Diamond Eye and am very happy with how it went together and the sound of it, a little quieter than my old 4".

Pop the hood and look at the sticker. If it says "non-catalyst", then get a turbo-back system.

Speaking of non-catalyst.....My e99 had a cat. in the event of the smog police setting up here in Florida, we need someone with some vinyl skills to make us up some "non-catalyst" "replacment" stickers....., or would that not be enough to fool them?
Got to go....... the Feds are at my door.

Most shops around here just pull up the VIN, rather than looking at the sticker.

But for a quick driveway mechanic check, the sticker should be able to tell if the truck is equipped with a cat or not.

Here's a thread from a while back that has a picture of the sticker: Failed MD inspection because of no cat - Page 2 - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
