how are the wheel options better? they use the same bolt pattern? i used to have 35" tires on my 04 with out a lift or leveling kit and it rubbed just like guys with the 05+ trucks. not trying to tell you not to do it at all. some times prodjects dont work out as well as planned though. also there is not death wobble issue with the leaf sprung trucks. i actually had that issue the other day. ended up having a nail in the tire and one tire had like 20 psi in it. it was a exciting ride though
You can't interchange wheels between the two models. Even though they have the same bolt pattern, the spacing is different because of the coils vs the springs. And usually wobble can be corrected with upgraded steering stabilizers.
But think about it...I'll have a better suspension system. A leveling kit (which is as big as I was wanting to go anyways, but was gonna be $600 through rough country), bigger and better looking wheels, newer axles, and a brand new set of 35" Nitto Terra Grapplers all for $300. I'd be a complete dumba$$ not to do it.
the 05+ wheels will work on pre 05 trucks. the off set is different but they will work. there are a ton or write ups about people running them, people using spacers to get the correct off set so they dont look odd. i doubt a steering stabilzer is going to fix it. shocks would be a better starting point.
I disagree. You have a perfectly good working truck right now... Once you start cutting there is no going back. There is a lot of risk associated with a project like this. I hope it isn't your daily driver because it could take a while to sort through all the issues you are going to run up against.
With that said, i would certainly like to see this being done, so make sure you take lots of pictures and post back!

Good Luck!
There are apparently several people on here that have done it, and some companies even that make conversion kits. So I don't there there is any cutting involved. From what people have said and from what I have learned through all of my research, the only thing about the frame that has to be modifies is the holes for the radius arm bracket. I don't think they exist and they will have to be drilled. Other than that I think it's just a matter of disconnecting everything from the axle, rolling it our, and rolling the new one in.
