Anybody have a 1979 f150 with Factory cruise control on the steering wheel with a fixed steering(non-tilit) colunm and a 4spd tranny.
I have a 1979 F150 4x4 with the np435 tranny and a fixed steering colunm and would like to add the factory cruise control, but did ford make any trucks like this. don't wnat to have an odd truck.

They didn't put speed control on standard transmission vehicles back then

Not that I know of
The transmission wouldn't be able to shift up or down when it needed to

I have a 84 mustang with a 5 spd and cruise control. When you want to shift you have to disable the cruise.
I cant see why you cant make it work. Find a cruise control column and gut it. Modify as needed and re-install in your not cruise column.
This is exactlly what I plan to do with my short bed unless I can find a tilt column to do this with.
I already have an auto shift column with the cruise and tilt that I am gonna use for parts. I need to find a tilt coulmn for the 4 speed now.

No one said it is couldn't be done, I just answered his questions
The column has nothing to do with speed control.
It is controlled by all the wiring, special brake pedal assembly/booster,etc

Delete the shift lever from an auto shift column?

If you already have Speed control then you don't need anything except for the clutch and brake pedal assembly

That what I thought, but it sounded like I might loose something when I changed out the existing brake pedal.
