I have a 78 f150 2 wheel drive, which I am going to take the power steering off of and install on a 67 100 2 wheel drive. My question is, the 78 is a manual trans and the 67 is an automatic. Will in need to find a steering column out of a late 70's truck with an automatic or can I mount everything up to the existing steering column
<O</OAnother question I had was on the gas tank. The rubber hose connecting the tank to the cab and cap is cracked. Can you buy new ones or do I need to get one from a junkyard. The parts store said to get the diameter and buy a piece of radiator hose. What have you done to fix this problem? <O</O Thanks in Advance. This place is full of great info.
Look for an industrial rubber/belting/hose suppliers near your location. Usually these places can supply just about any rubber product or point you in the rite direction. The rad hose will work for short periods but will get ruined by the gasoline in time causing it to swell and break down. Hose made for gasoline type applications is made of the proper material.
i mounted a steering column out of a 76 f-350 w/manual into my 70 f-100 w/C-6.
the manual column is about 6 inches longer. either use the column tube and steering shaft out of the 78 or you have to cut the bottom bearing race and about 6" off the 67's column tube, then weld the bearing race back onto the rest of the column tube. and that will allow u 2 keep your 67 column tube w/the 78 steering shaft
