This is the semi-fluid grease I use…
Chevron Delo EP 00 semi-fluid grease.

This is a superior, synthetic semi-fluid (self-leveling) grease for all vintage steering gear applications. Its specs exceed that of the commonly used Champion “00” and Penrite Semi-Fluid Steering Gear Fluid from Australia (which surprisingly at manufacturer stated 18 pounds, doesn’t meet EP minimum standard of 40 pounds for Timken OK Load test, per ASTM D 2509). The base oil viscosity is equivalent to 90 weight gear oil, which was the original spec for many vintage steering gearboxes. It will flow somewhat better than the commonly used John Deere “Cornhead” grease, which is NLGI 0 rated. It should not leak as does 90 weight gear oil from vintage steering gearboxes could in normal condition and operation.

He asked about the box in his 1960, don't know why he posted it in this section. That box uses oil according to all FORD shop manuals.

Thank you for that info. I think I'll try it.

Were is it leaking?

Anyone have there box/steering shaft out of there truck currently? I need to know how long the exposed shaft is from the flange where it comes out of the box to the very top tip of it where the steering wheel bolts to it... and is the shaft made of a hollow tube that the horn wire runs through? I may have a 1961 box mixed in with my 1953-56 parts. Thanks guys

Horn brush

This thread came up in a horn search and has good info. Does anyone have pictures of the horn brushes? Both above and below the steering wheel? The diagrams are great but I can’t picture how its supposed to look. My truck has nothing under the horn button except a spring.
Truck is a 1961F1004x4
Thanks
