What clutches do you guys use? I plan to do some serious wheelin in the future and with big tires and the low gearing im thinking of stepping up the clutch when it goes out to something that will hold the added torque with no worries. Im not the kind of guy that babies my trucks so I want it to hold up. I have no problems at the moment with the clutch on the street but I havent put it in 4wd with lots of torque yet.
Truck clutches are generaly pretty heavy duty in general. Most aftermarket clutches are designed more for high performance cars with added holding at high RPMs.
Raybestos makes good clutches and I have used several over the years.
Yeah its behind a 390. Can I ask for a clutch from lets say a 70 f100 390? Dose 2v-4v make any difference?
390 2V/4V makes no difference, but first measure the clutch disc. Some passenger cars with 390's used an 11" clutch. None of the trucks did, and since the engine's been swapped...
