Better Fuel Mileage
I have a 93 150 4x4 4.9 e40d 3.08 gears, I get 15-16 mpg in the
summer and 13-14 mpg in the winter. I would think a 4.9 fi would
get better mpg than this. I would be interested in hearing about
any mpg improvement mods anybody has done.The stock exhaust
system on this truck is a joke Im surprised it runs at all. According
to my service manual the temp sending unit is at the right side of the head at the back,I don't see it on mine, where is it. Is it possible to change the pan gasket without pulling the engine.

If it hasn't been done is a while try a tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor). I don't know how big of an impact having 4WD makes.
You don't have to pull the engine to do the oil pan gasket but you do have to unbolt the motor mounts and jack the engine up.
