I am still frustrated with my mileage. I got about 380 miles out of my last tank (about 27 gallons used), so that is roughly 14mpg. Two of my friends have similar trucks and get 17 around town and 19 on the highway. The best I have gotten is 15. I have done just about everything. I have replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, O2 sensor, EGR position sensor, fuel filter, air filter(just did that last night), installed restricter plate for EGR, and changed/checked all fluids. I have checked the TPS, intake temp. sensor, coolant temp. sensor and timing and all checked okay. I even checked to make sure none of the brakes are dragging. Other than running a little rough at idle sometimes it runs good. The truck is stock and I don't drive it hard. I am tired of putting money into this darn thing and not getting any results. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
1. Run 89 octane from the local Holliday. I am not sure why, but if I fill up anywhere else, I don't get as good as mileage
2. I have a strait pipe from the resignator on.
3. I installed the K&N filter kit. Not the drop in filter, but the open air kit.
I also did plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter.
I also have a box cover, and drive between 60 and 65 mph.
Not sure the gear ratio in my truck, But if I recall right, it runs at about 1700 - 1800 at 65mph if that is any help. I will double check on the way to work tomorrow (drove the old Jeep today).
As I said in my earlier post, my Lund Visor is off now (anybody want a visor).
The only other thing that I really did was put 2 cans of "SeaFoam" in the truck. One in the gas tank and one in the crank.
Other than the above, the rest of the truck is pretty much stock. Hope this helps.
