Hi I finally got the turbo out of the way and now i need to know ware exactly the hpop is it seas that it is under the turbo but there are two plates one is a cast cover at the back of the motor and the other is in the front of the motor almost under the oil filter made from a thiner sheat metel like the oil pan wich one is it.
O and what the heck wer the engeniers thinking when they made this motor? They put the belt tinsioner in the center of the belt so that its a pain in the but to get to unless your paper thin there isn't even enuf room for my 1/2" rachet to fit so so im going to have to make a tool for it out of some keystock and a piece of flat strap.
The hpop is under the cast cover in the rear of the engine. The front aluminum cover is where the oil cooler is located.
Ya the tensioner can be hard to reach at times.....
thanks fallguy2004.
Dose anyone have a link to removing the hpop it kinda looks like i have to remove the egr n oil cooler to get to all the bolts for the lid
someone has to have a link the chiltion i have sucks it gose into detail on the 7.3 with a short parigraff on the 6.0 even if someone knows ware i can get a GOOD manual on the 6.0
Should be something in there.
But really all you gotta get off is the intake, assuming its an early engine with the rear cross pipe.
If its newer you don't have to take the intake off, just the turbo pedestal I think.....
I was hopping for that but it looks like the egr cooler is on top of the bolts for the cover so it will vave to come out or at least loos enuf to get around it
I just finished mine two days ago and remember screaming those words "what the were they thinking" but ya you can get that plate out with a bit of wiggling try to get at that one stupid one from the flip side with a ratchet wrench or the flat but you can see whats going on at least
Ok im dumb it is the intake that i have to remove I am used to working on chevys and havent seen an intake like this i kept thinking y do they have so many bolts in the egr cooler then i saw that the throtele body was hooked up to it DOHH
