Just bought a 2010 F150 with the 4,6 three valve engine.Last truck had the 5.4.All I really tow is a 4000lb boat.Any comments?
Given that the 4.6 3Vs have close to or right at the same HP as the old 5.4 2Vs, I would think that you should be fine for towing 4k(boat?). It would really depend on what kind of terrain that you dealing with, but in of itself, I think it should do fine for you.
You'll be fine with the 4.6 3V. If Ford had introduced this fine little motor a few years ago, there would have been many many more happier truck owners.
FYI......I put my '10 F-150 4.6L 3v on the 1/4 mile track earlier this summer. Best time was 15.4 seconds @ 90mph. Also ran my daughter's '09 F-150 4x4, 5.4L. Best time for that was 15.8 @ 89 mph.

Whoa thats quicker than my 05 Civic Si hatchback (15.8)
I have a '09 4.6 3v right now. Is your truck the supercrew 2wd?
have an '09 F150 XL SCrew 6.5 bed 4.6L3v - just a hair under 25k. I've done a couple of light pulls with it. It's a Champ. It'll pull that boat no problem. When you need a lil extra, just put the hammer down and let it respond... I've not found a place where it has not been enough, yet.
Got the new truck,so far quite satisfied with the 4.6,and the 6 speed.I have an Edge Evelution, and an Air Aid cold air kit for a 2006 5.4 for sale.Anyone interested e-mail me at jyarosz@hotmail.com. Cant post in classified yet don't have enough posts.
I bought a 2010 oxford white 4x4 supercab 2 weeks ago it now has 650 miles on it. It also is a 4.6 3v but i opted for the 3.73 limited slip axle. I drove a few 3.55's and they were fine but man.. this truck gets around great. It also has the chrome package its a sharp truck. My old truck was a 2003 4x4 supercab heritage edition, traded it with 75k on it. This new truck seems to have more power than my old 5.4 2v but maybe its the gears and 6 speeds. The old 2v 5.4 was a low down torquer, but wasn't much of a free revver.

Just hooked up our 3,000 pound 17' Hi-Lo today for a test tow before vacation. I didn't even know it was back there.......4.6 3V 3:55 4x2. What a change from my 06 MDX!
RDX is a hoot to drive....turbo 4. Only thing is it can't tow. MDX was decent, but with the tranny failures (especially 2001-2003) I wouldn't own one out of warranty.
