12 foot flatbeds

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...-flatbeds.html

Remember this thread, lol? Well, as I know a bit more about them, and have measured my 9 footer, I'm looking to rebuild mine into a 12 footer to match my uncle's truck (158" WB) This is no overnight fix, but wanted to start a thread so that those that have the 12 foot flatbeds can provide some pics. I'll start with this one.

I'll also include Bob's thread for some detailed drawings: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...s-finally.html

I'll have to get back on the flatbed drawing some day. Right now the flatbed is in storage and is hard to get to.

Mine's in the middle of the backyard, and hope to move it this coming weekend. I'm getting ready to tear it down and "fold it up".

may go look at a truck this weekend that looks like it has a 12' script bed.

I'll take some pictures if I do to post here.

I was just thinking about the script stakebed with a dump and how that would work. ggod pictures to show thew underside of the bed and mounting too. thanks for posting.

my 52 F6 has a different bed on it with the pto /hydraulic dump. It would be alot cooler to have the script stakbed on it and the dump. hmmm
looking at a 52 F-5 with the script bed on it this weekend (I hope) if my wife doesn't put a stop to it. I may just have to pick up the F5 if it's in better shape and just take the hydraulic's and pump etc off the f-6 and install on the F5 ????
hmmm I think Im getting in over my head!

I have a pto on my 50 F3 I just got, and I think that is going to come in real handy.

Time flies when you're busy working and life gets in the way, lol. Anywho, I finally got the bed moved up by the garage, and will start in on it pretty quick. Long story short, I have my uncle's truck finally coming home next month. Gonna cost me about $500-600. Meanwhile a member of the flathead v8 forum has an F4 in MT, that sounds like a deal, or a local who has a mid 40's truck which I need to find out what size it is, or a coworker who has a '49 F3 as a last resort. My "other" project that I've been planning has been to make an F4 5th wheel using my 345 IH v8, T18 4sp. divorced NP205, and 70's front F250 Dana 44, with axles drilled for 8 lug pattern. All in the dream stage currently.
I also have a friend who's interested in my '50 dumpbox F6 (134") in trade for his '47 tudor sedan. I hope to keep the hydraulics from the dump box and flathead v8, since he plans on putting a diesel in it. (he's a diesel mechanic) So all in all, this year might take an interesting turn. At the same time, I'll be tearing into the flatbed, and getting the F1 frame ready for blasting and primer, all the while reserving a weekend for the other F6. This could be the year, (how many times have I said that? lol) so crossing my fingers.

My 1948 F-7 has a 16 foot bed. A 4x8 sheet of plywood looks lost on the back. It is not a factory or aftermarket bed. It is a custom stake bed with fixed front and side racks. The story I heard was that the wood for the bed was milled from cherry trees that came from the family farm.
