Flatbed weight?

Any of you guys that are running flatbeds on srw trucks have an idea of what they weigh? I guessed a 7x9 footer would weigh 1000-1200 but I have been looking around and heard they can be as "little" as 800lbs. Thoughts??

It would depend on what you're making it out of. And how reinforced your gonna make it. A simple plain wood bed wouldn't weigh more than 200-300 pounds. Start adding a bunch of 4x4's for support and maybe overbuild it a little and it'll get heavier. I'm gonna build one this summer framed out of rectangular tubing with a wood floor. That would weigh around 400-500 pounds. Start throwing on 1/4 diamond plate and tool boxes and it's gonna be heavier. It won't be much more than what a regular bed would weigh. Not nearly enough to make a difference with srw and dwr

Ok. I should have been a little more specific. That's my fault. I am not building one. I'm looking to buy one from a place that sells by weight. It looks like rectangular tubing with diamond plate on top of it. Looking at it a little closer I am gonna say it's not more than 1k lbs but I'd still like to hear some other opinions. If I can figure out how I will post a pic to make it much easier.

Ok, first off I don't have any experience with flatbeds. But I do have experience in a small welding shop so I'm just basing my claims off of what I think. If I had to make a guess I'd say that bed weighs 600-700 pounds. Maybe even 800. But it's hard to see through picture. Look under it at how they framing for the bed is setup. Some beds are just flat decks welded to some some mounts attached to the frame. Some people make them like the Golden Gate Bridge with all kinds of reinforcement like trusses and cross members. From what I understand the original style side bed weighs around 400 pounds. Add on the benefit of having a headache rack, and tool box, and the extra weight really isn't much. Remember you may or may not be using a conventional rear bumper and subtract that weight also. Seeing as how that has a diamond plate deck and a ball it's probably gonna be on the heavier side. Again just my opinions based on limited experience.

Flat decks like the goose neck one pictured are usually lighter than regular truck boxes. By how much depends on what all went into it.

This box is 78" x 8' with 13.5" sides, is all 1/4 & 3/16 checker and flat plate with 1 ton frame rails on the lower sides and 1.5 x 3" c channel and 3/16 2" square tubing framing it all in. It has 3/16" angle cross ribs and 2 x 5" x 8' rails. It weighs less than my 8' regular box by close to 100lbs. Hope this helps

Sides are solid, right now its chains holding up the gate but it's coming back into the shop for a drop latch system for a primary closer and the cab needs paint detailing

Spring latch pin on passenger side only good pic of it. put spring on bolt and welded bolt onto 1" x 2" plate that's welded to pin, pin is concrete stake. Spring rests against C channel and plate on spring

holes are 3/4"

pin on drivers side welded to tailgate from inside

plate on spring pin, need to dress the pin down 1/16" to make it easier to take off gate. I've got more pics but need to go through them, post if you need a better explanation or more pics, I'm a bit distracted right now and will have more time tomorrow to properly answer your question.
