towing

anyone tow any loads in the 7000 lbs. weight up hills with a 5.4 ? how did muster them and did it scream the whole way up?

I have never had any issues while towing on any grades and I have towed something in this range maybe just shy of it but close. I have always turned off OD while towing even when its a small load and even grades.

I towed a 10K trailor from TX to AL with a 4.9 ('92 4x4 F-150). The engine and transmission are less of an issue than the brakes. Plan your stops well in advance to prevent overheating and/or jack-knife surprises. The engine won't scream unless you make it!

I pull a 25 foot Airstream that's in that weight range. It pulls up grades just fine at 3800 RPM. I don't call that screaming, that's right where the maximum torque is.
