Good job dmptrkr. It didn't stand out at the angles the pics were taken until you see distance from rear of wheel opening to running board, and then at front too.
Was that part of a Nascar package to favor left turns?
That's my truck which Panelman was nice enough to post for me. Just wanted to see how noticable the difference was to you guys. I've been working on this truck for years and noticed something different about the fenders, but it wasn't until Panelman noticed it when I emailed him the pics to post for me. I have a Mustang type IFS sometimes there is contact between the tire and the F1 fender. Panelman strongly suggested not modifying the F1 fender wider to match. Any suggestions? Thanks.
It's barely noticeable even when you know what to look for on that truck.

He didn't notice it until after it was painted.
The differences are DRAMATIC on the 53-56 model year...
That would definitely suck, those are WAY bigger. I would have thought he would have noticed it went down farther with the running boards. The wheel wells are bigger, and the whole thing is wider... least he caught it, the timing sucks though, guess it beats always thinking the thing looked a little off.

If that F1 fender is in as good condition as it looks, it's worth GOLD. Just because any F1 fenders are hard to come by in any decent condition, I would not convert it to an F2-F6 fender. It's a lot easier, and much cheaper, to find a good F2-F6 fender than it is an F1 fender.
Even if you decide to enlarge the wheel well opening in the F1 fender, you'd still have to remove it, do body work and paint. Plus, you'll be ruining a good F1 fender.
If it were me, I'd either look for another F1 or F2-F6 fender and sell whichever one I won't use on the truck.
Since I'm a purist, I'd probably seek out a good F1 fender and sell the existing F2-F6 fender.
Another difference on the truck is that it has a hood from a 1951, but side molding spears from a 1952 truck.
