Need help decoding a 48-50 vin

I just bought this truck for a friend today. It's a hybrid. It has a 51 front clip and a 48-50 cab. The VIN in the glovebox, however, looks to be for a 49.

Please help me decode the Data plate. I'm not familiar with 48-50 plates.

Thanks, Ilya

1949 F8, leastwise thats what the Cab wanted to be.
Have to check the right frame rail near the cross member to be sure what the rest may be.

Ilya,

Why are all the good ones in CA? I would love to have that truck, even if it is a hybrid. It already has the 51 grill. It an F8 single axle with a fifth wheel. Don't keep us in suspense how much did you have to pay?

I bid on one on epay with a tow bed, but the reserve was set too high for me. I want one, but at the right price.

Did fedex leave any paperwork? I have not received the radiator yet. I will call them to find out whats going on. or for a tracking number at least.

At least it has the correct 51 F-7/8 fenders if it is indeed a 49 F-8. I got the same front fenders on my truck. Neat to see one of the Big jobs.

That would be nice with an Old Time Car Carrier and enough money to keep the carrier filled with different vehicles.
Or a triple axle Gooseneck.

It's an F8. I found the 48-50 F8 badges in the cab, plus the hood badges are 51 F8. My guess is that something, obviously, happened to the 48-50 front clip requiring the change over. My suspicion is that the current clip came from a junkyard as it has 51 F8 written on top of one fender.

This truck was purchased as a parts truck, but the cab might be replaced with a 51/52 cab to make this truck a 51 (after getting correct paperwork from another 51 F8). This truck will likely be built out to be a hauler for my friend's 51 F8 firetruck.

This truck was purchased by the owner before the current owner to move out here from the east coast. They bought the truck and a moving trailer, packed their belongings inside and drove out here. Then they sold the truck and trailer to the current owner. He has since scrapped the trailer, but left the truck sitting for about 20 years. It's all complete and only rust through is at the bottom of the front cab corner. Besides minor front end damage (lower fenders and lower apron), the truck is straight. It has the 337(?) flathead 8 in it.

With towing out of the mountains to my place, I paid $700.

The number Sequence following that follows the above is probably the production numbers.

This engine will have the Distributor at the rear of the Engine, same one that was used on the Lincoln Cars.
Your Truck has the 5 Star 1951 Front Clip.

Looked at the extra pics, that has me drooling.
Grab those insulators from the Drivers Running Board, their worth at least $20 apiece.

9E9QH26079

9 = 1949 or 1950
E9QH = F8, 3 ton Truck, 159" Wheelbase
26079 = VIN Sequence number. These were a seperate series of numbers than those used for the F1's - F6's with the 239 V8' and the H-series 6-cyl.'s. What I don't know is if they mixed these with the VIN sequence numbers for the trucks with the M series 6 cylinders like they did with the R series V8's and H series 6's.
Anyway, hope this helps. Would be great if you could post the firewall stampings for this truck as we don't many big jobbers on here.
