Exclamation Truck Problem - Hard Shifting - Need Help - P1728 - P0236 - P0472

Hello,

My truck has been shifting really hard (down and up). I have the super chip set on high performance. If I pull the error codes (overdrive light is blinking) I get the following codes.

P1728 - Transmission Slip Error
P0236 - Turbo Boost Sensor A Circuit Performance
P0472 - Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input *** Replaced at a Ford Repair shop (they said it was bad - I still get the code) ***

After I clear the codes, it works fine for a while (hard shifting goes away). This lats about a day, then the codes come back.

I got the truck from my parents, and they are the original owners. Currently 250,000 miles. I took it to a repair shop and they said it needs a new transmission for $3,400.

I just want to make sure I really need it before I fork out the money.

Thanks,
Josh Wegener

Has the transmission fluid ever been changed in the truck's life? I'm sure Ford says to
change it at certain intervals, and googling your error code suggests a fluid flush &
change may help your situation (as your problem could be caused by different things).

If you're wanting to go that route, you might first look at the Lucas transmission fluid
additive, I work with somebody who says that helped him. It's basically a friction modifier
and people here in this forum have both good & bad things to say about 'em.

Regardless, if it were me, I would first go the flush & change route and see what
happens, the snake oil would maybe come next if the problem persisted.

Sorry, took me some time to get the information. The transmission fluid has never been flushed.

If it were me, I'd begin with a fluid backflush and see what happens from there.
