Where do you put your gauges?

I have some gauges in mind to purchase. Mainly I need my tach and wideband in plain view and was thinking about mounting them on the steering column in gauge pods/cups. Anyone have any column mounted gauges in their trucks? Also, I want to run a fuel pressure, possible pyro as well. Any goo places one have found to mount small 2 1/16" gauges other than steering column?

I have a manual trans 4WD highboy.

I have my Tach mounted on the dash (I don't have a dash pad). I had my vacuum gauge mounted in the factory air vent, but since I've redone my A/C I've removed it and mounted it down by my other gauges below the center of the dash.

I like the full retina burn from the shift light, a bit extreme for most though:

I like that! A bit too much for me. Kinda want to keep mine a little more "sleeper" like. I have my 2 5/8" boost gauge mounted where the drivers "air duct" would be if my truck was equipped with one, so it fits well there. I am not really a fan of gauges in my line of sight on the dash. I think they are kinda tacky unless you race and they are there for function.

Since I have a manual trans, my steering column is just a round tube with lots of room under the original instrument cluster. I think I am going to put my wide-band down there along with a good visible tach. No shift lights needed for me!

I also have a trailer brake controller that I need to put in an accesible place where I can use it, but not kick it when I jump into the truck. I think I like putting some under the bottom of the dash, where the info is there when I need it, but out of the way so it doesn't get kicked around.

Nice gauges guys!

gauges in the middle ac vent look very sanitary to me, not much sacrifice onmost trucks either with no ac.

dont laugh, but i once mounted a DIGITAL gauge or two INSIDE THE VENTS, you could see them clearly thru the ac vents and no one else would even know that they were there.

DKW 86 had an idea with digital, depending on dash colour you could hide the gauges behind a panel that would only be visible when turned on.

They also have some overhead consoles that allow gauge mounting that would keep your dash clean.

I mount all mine, including the tach under dash beside the ash tray. Not sure how that would work with a manual tranny though.

i do believe that MPH gauge should start at 120, not end there. Thats a wicked lookin setup you got there-i have the same steering wheel, minus the go-go juice buttons.

Do you have a problem with your paint sliding towards the back when you drive? HA

My truck has no dash vents at all. Only defrost and floor, so in theory I do have a lot of room and untouched panel to cut holes in....but do I want to do that?....not sure!

It was scary enough cutting a hole in the roof for my sunroof...luckily that turned out very nice, but cutting holes in more or less un-replacable parts in always a think 30 times, measure 20 times, then cut once!

id like to see some pics of your sunroof, as for the mounts, if there is no dash vents, thats the route i would go, but to each his own.
