The starter button does work, it's from a Honda 2000. It fits right into the lighter opening. The key needs to be in the RUN position for it to work.

Nice! I want one of those now. It makes it so much harder to steal the vehicle :P

Mind if I ask you what the mechanics are behind how it works? I know it interrupts something, but I'm not too "up to date" lets say, on how it all works.

It's not so much that it's safer, instead of turing the key for starting you turn the key to the "RUN" position and then use the starter button (key start/crank is deleted). I just like the look of a starter button. I also have a Flaming River kill switch that's wired into the battery, turn that and pull the key and everything is dead. I use that for winter storage. It would be a pain if you have a stereo as it would revert to it's default settings everytime.

There have been many threads on having a hidden switch in the cab that must be made in order to allow the the truck to start, for safety that might be the best route.

If you want to pursue a starter button there are several good sites describing them and some cool buttons. The Honda one looks good, lights up at night and fit right in place.

Ive had a starter button on many cars. On my Nissan it was in the center console so you had to put the key in the RUN position then open the center console and use the button to start it. Its just a momentary switch that gives power to your starter while you hold it down. They are easy to do. I had a push button start in my 85 Ford LTD that I got for 500 bucks. I had it so you turn the key to the RUN position and then open the ash tray and where the cigarette lighter was is where I put the starter button. A LOT of people got a kick out of that when they rode with me.

That's something that I was thinking of doing. Putting something inside the ashtray itself so it's a bit more concealed. Nice idea though.

Un-replaceable parts? I've got 3-4 dashes sitting here. In fact I'll be cutting up a few to mix and match for when I put the gauges in mine. Dashes are easy to replace, I would have been MUCH more scarred about cutting for the sunroof. But then again - it's just metal and I can put it back together. I guess that's the big reason I work with metal and not wood - I can repair one to look like nothing ever happened, the other, well...

Very good to know - as that is where I plan on putting my GPS. I've tried to hold it up there and see how it would work, but I couldn't tell for sure. Good to know it's easy to see there.

The only non OEM gauge Ive added so far has been the tach. I only mounted it under the dash because I havent found a place for it I like any better. Its not ideal but Ive got used to it.

That's a lot of black on the inside of your truck. I'd hate to be the first to sit in it after it's been sitting in the sun all day.

Although, it's a damn nice truck.. I have to say..

Mind if I nab a picture of the outside of the truck from you? I would love to see what you did the the exterior (since you're using jade green) and your interior is so nicely dressed up.

Sure....

The dash is the same color as the truck. The black is on the dash pad, door pannels, headlinner and seat. With the dark tinted windows it doesnt get too hot in the truck and I even live in south Florida.
Thanks for the compliments.

It still see's mud now and then. I didnt spend the money for lockers front and rear just to use on the street. Its deffinitly more of a driver than a show truck although I do try to keep it looking good.

Wow that's one sharp looking truck. It's jade green is it not? In that picture, on certain parts of the truck, it almost looks like it's jet black. It is however, under a tree and a metallic colour, so I'm still assuming it's jade green.

Honestly, that's the exact look I want my truck to have once I'm done with it. Thanks for the photo, as I think I'll use it as insperation for completing my truck.

Mind if I ask how many iches you raised your truck by? I love a nice stance, and yours has got it going on.

Thanks again for the photos, cheers buddy haha.

I got the paint code off of a 2001 Toyota Echo that I saw and liked the color. Its hard to take a good picture that shows the color very well. The truck has a 6 inch Skyjacker lift kit.
