Well...took my Ex down to mechanic and got the call around noon. Head gaskets are jacked. Good news y'all! I'm still under warranty for 10,000 more miles or until November 15, 2010! Thank God...no really Thank God! I could never have afforded that repair right now!
I called up a local source and he is shipping overnight ARP studs to my mechanic. I am thinking about seeing if I can get a First Coast Diesel Performance Full delete kit on for me while he's got the body off the frame. Adam Brennan is checking to see if they can get me one by tomorrow!
This is why I thank God: $3500 head gasket job (free) Headstuds (installed free) $1000 air conditioning problem fixed possible EGR delete install (free)...can somebody get excited with me about this?
Just wanted to celebrate a little bit, cuz this has floored me!
Would they put in non OEM parts at the dealership? Also, messing with the emission control equipment?
I guess they would put in aftermarket parts when the installer knows that the Ford bolts are junk and that the owner of the vehicle would be somewhat irate if the installed parts failed just outside of the warranty window and never brougt their four Ford vehicles back to that service department. It has happened to them and many other dealers.
It is no secret to Ford or any real diesel mechanic that the ARP head studs are not just "Aftermarket Equipment" they are INSURANCE.
If you walked into your repair shop and gave them a part to install...they will. If that part fails and messes up other parts...no warranty...but what have I got to lose there? I'm deleting Ford biggest failure-prone component, thus saving both of us time and money!

A dealership did mine just before my warranty went out. I supplied the ARP's and an EGR delete. No charge. The mechanic was glad to put the "Non" OEM parts in.
